Paris, Alabama is a city in Monroe County, Alabama, United States. It is located in the central part of the state and has a population of approximately 600 people. Paris is known for its historic downtown area, which features many antique shops and restaurants. The city also has several parks and outdoor recreational areas, including a popular walking trail and a public golf course. Paris is situated on the banks of the Tennessee River and is about 40 miles north of Birmingham, Alabama. The area was settled in the early 1800s and named after the French city of Paris in honor of its founder's admiration for Napoleon.
